REASON FOR LOSS:
The Lancaster with a total crew of 8 took off from its base at 22.52 hrs on 21st May 1944 on a bombing raid against Duisburg. The aircraft and crew failed to return from the operation and were reported missing. It was later reported from the International Red Cross Committee that Lancaster ND754 was shot down by flak and crashed at 01.15 hrs on 22nd May 1944 at Duisburg, Beckerwerth, Germany. Fl/Sgt. Noon was taken Prisoner of War and interned in Camp L7. The rest of the crew were buried initially within a two day period in the Dusseldorf Nordfriedhof but have since been reinterred at the Reicheswald Forest War Cemetery.
