Location: Saddlescombe Farm, Poynings, Newtimber.

Pilot: Fl/Sgt. Kazimierz Wünsche D.F.M. D.F.C. V.M. P2096 P.A.F. Wounded

REASON FOR LOSS:

On patrol - shot down by an Me 109. Baled out, slightly wounded in the leg the Fl/Sgt. also suffered some burns to his face Fl/Sgt. Wünsche was then admitted to Hove hospital, it would be June 1941 before he could return to combat.

A major recovery has been undertaken by the Wealdon Aviation Archaeology Group in September 1979. The remains of a shattered Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, propeller hub, head armour and cockpit components including the gun sight were all unearthed.

Kazimierz Wünsche died on 10 July 1980 in Warsaw at the age of 61 years. He was buried at the cemetery Powązkowskim.
