REASON FOR LOSS:
This aircraft was shot down by U.S fighters in combat over the Luneburger Heide.
Sadly this was the first mission for the young German pilot, Uffz. Ortlieb Uher who perished in the ensuing crash of his Focke Wulf 190.
From the Buergermeister in Schweimke came a map with the rough location of the crash site. Crash site located on the 27th May 2006 in woodland as marked by the Buergermeister Werner Rodewald. A search of the area by Melvin Brownless, David King (Aircrew Remembrance Society), Ruediger & Ricardo Kaufmann resulted in some fragments being found. The grave of Ortlieb Uher was also visited and flowers were left in remembrance of this fallen pilot.
