Born 16.03.1915 in Jmer/Oldenburg.

REASON FOR LOSS:

This aircraft is believed to have been shot down by Spitfires of No.403 RCAF Squadron in combat with B-17's.
Ofw. Meyer engaged an English fighter at approximately 1800 meters altitude; during which it was observed that his undercarriage had lowered. The aircraft dived vertically and was destroyed by the crash and ensuing fire. The pilot's next of kin were notified on the 16th March 1943 by the Squadron commander Oblt. Stammberger via the local NSDAP office. Hermann was originally laid to rest at the Heldenfriedhof Abbeville,(Somme) Northern France.
