REASON FOR LOSS:
This aircraft was attacked and shot down by F/O. Edgar James (Cobber) Kain in a Hurricane of No.73 Squadron.
During the combat Kain's Hurricane was also hit in error by French anti-aircraft gunners during the pursuit.
This was Kain's first victory that started his phenomenal career of leading R.A.F. ace of the French campaign.
Tragically, Edgar James Kain D.F.C. lost his life on the 7th June 1940 when he crashed to the ground whilst performing low level aerobatics in a Hurricane. He was aged just 21 years.

Georg Stühler was born in Wurzburg on 6 April 1913 as the 5th son and 7th child of engine driver Georg Stühler and his wife Elisabetha Eleonore (born Seybold). After attending elementary school, the deceased trained as an Electrician and remained in this profession until his voluntary entrance into the German Army in 1932.
In the German Army he successfully completed a six month training period and was then assigned to Infantry Regiment 55 in Wurzburg. After a one year period of service he was taken over by Lufthansa to train as a pilot.
Upon his return to the army, he was transferred to the Aufklaerungsgruppe 123 Staffel I of Fliegerkommandantur Horst Wuerzburg.
In the time from June 1938 to the end of January 1939, he fought as a volunteer with Legion Condor in Spain and was awarded the silver Spanish Cross and the Spanish Military Service Cross II K and promoted to Oberfeldwebel. He had already received other awards at home. In September 1939 he was additionally awarded the golden Spanish Cross.

This crew now rest in the Kriegsgraeberstaette Reillon, France in a Kameraden grave.
