REASON FOR LOSS:

This crew were briefed to attack Farnborough aerodrome, during the sortie their aircraft was rammed by a Hurricane flown by P/O Morris of No.79 Squadron over Reigate, Surrey. The Heinkel crashed and later exploded. Aircraft wrecked.

He 111 crashed at Holmwood, near Capel, Surrey, on the 30.08.40. Aircraft completely destroyed, and as far as it is possible to ascertain, it is a standard aircraft.

Burial details:

Those who lost their lives were originally buried in Dorking Cemetery, since reinterred at the Deutsche Soldatenfriedhof, Cannock Chase, Block 1 Graves 430, 429, 428.
