REASON FOR LOSS:

This aircraft was engaged on a bomber escort sortie to London but was attacked and shot down by Pilot Officer J. B. Kendal of No.66 Squadron. Black 12 broke up in the air over Bardown and Church Street Farms with the main portion of wreckage falling near Ticehurst railway station. On examination of the wreckage two victory stripes were found on the tail. twenty six year old Kurt Eichstaedt baled out of his machine but was found dead at Shovers Green with an unopened parachute.

one picture of my grandfather, please see copy attached.

Besides the information on his aircraft below I really don't have any more
information on him. Should anyone reply to your site with a picture of him,
his aircraft or any further details, I would really appreciate it if you
could let me know.
