No 1. B.F.T.S. Terrell, Dallas, Texas
We are pleased to announce that the Aircrew Remembrance Society and Wings Museum are now working very closely with the Directors of the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum based in Terrell, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. Information is currently being exchanged and we would be happy to assist relatives in finding out more regarding the training of R. A. F. and Commonwealth aircrews based there during WW2.
They do have a website but it is currently under construction following recent management changes over at Terrell. Until such time as it is up and running any contact should be made through us. However they are having an open day later this year and for those of you going over that way we have provided details for you to attend.
HISTORY:
The No. 1 British Flying School Museum is a popular destination for World War II history buffs, aviation enthusiasts, and veterans. Visitors of all ages enjoy the museum's hands-on exhibits that explain how and why airplanes fly.
During World War II thousands of British pilots learned to fly at six civilian training schools in the United States. The first and largest of the schools was in Terrell.

After the United States entered the war, American Aviation Cadets also trained at the school. More than 2,000 Royal Air Force and American Army Air Force pilots earned their wings over North Texas between 1941 and 1945. Terrell's citizens welcomed the student pilots to their community, and many life-long bonds were forged. The museum celebrates this little known chapter of World War II history.
The museum's archives contain the most extensive record of the British Flying Training School that exists. The collection includes hundreds of historical items:
• log books
• training materials
• WW II memorabilia
• uniforms
